Civil War Days in Branch County-Coldwater, Mi.

Civil War Re-enactment Event Sponsorship Page

To Prospective Sponsors,

You are cordially invited to be a sponsor for the Memorial Weekend / Civil War events

These four days of events and activities are described in the attached flyer. This is Branch County's largest educational and entertainment happening. Youth and adult planners put together and present a complex set of historical activities. This includes a twelve member executive committee and forty sub-committees. Hundreds of hours and months of work ensure a first class result.

We are requesting that you consider sponsoring one or more of these events.

Also a purely monetary donation of any size will be appreciated. A 501 C receipt is given to each sponsor.

A copy of our financial records is available by request.

By sponsoring a portion of these events, you are providing a public service to the Tri-state area. While honoring our troops past and present, we are involving and educating our youth.

Newspaper photo publicity, a listing in the program book, a placard at the activity site and other publicity is offered to all sponsors.

We thank you for your consideration and participation.

Sincerely,

Bob Stewart, Chairman    517-279-7467

Carol Bavin, Vice Chairman     517-279-7184

& Leah Highbee, Vice Chairman   517-238-2771

This donation provides the venue for most of the events. It includes the battleground, Indian camp sites and Four buildings of music, demonstrations, displays and other educational sites.

2.  President and Mrs. Lincoln re-enactors ( 4 days)      $1500.00

3.   Civil War Brass Band (train station concert)      $2700.00

4.  Little River Railroad Train Rental      $1500.00

5.  Glen Morningstar Orchestra (Ball)      $700.00

6.  Admission for all veterans and active servicemen      $2500.00

7.  Admission for all students      $2000.00

8. Split rail fence    $2000.00

The split rail fence is a perfect and authentic part of the Battlefield scene. With careful use and storage the fence should last for generations of participants and spectators.

9.   Muskets and accessories     $1000.00

The "committee" has a rare opportunity to buy ten used Muskets and accessories for $1000.00. This is I/10 the normal cost. The local re-enactors have uniforms but need these weapons. Again these should last for years to come.

10. Dearth Center Rental    $600.00

11. Catering for Grand Ball / Banquet      $3, 500.00

12. Cannon "Bounty"    $800.00

It is the custom to pay visiting cannon companies a "bounty" of $200 per cannon to defray costs for cannons, powder, transport and other expenses. We are expecting 4 cannons and three of them Mountain Howitzers.

13. Cavalry $25 per horse      $500.00

This year we are expecting 20 mounted cavalry soldiers. They have a cost in transporting and caring for these horses while at our fairgrounds. Hay for feed and bedding.

14. Military Uniforms , dresses and suits     $1000.00

Each year we strive to increase the pool of Civil War era costumes and uniforms to create the total atmosphere that impacts our youth and adult attendees. Even with volunteer labor; patterns, cloth, accessories, shoes and boots, these cost a considerable amount. This year we hope to outfit up to 50 additional youth and adults.

15. Civil War Surgeons.     $200.00

Last year the single most popular demonstration was a Field hospital re-enactment. Surgeons performed amputations and other crude treatments amid much blood and cries of pain. The visiting surgical teams request $200.00 to partially cover the expenses. Well worth the two day experience.

16. Newspaper, Radio and Television         $2050.00

To invite veterans , students, and other citizens, considerable publicity is necessary in local and area newspapers, radio and television. The cost of $2050 is an investment in an exciting memorable experience.

You can Mail or have a Photo opportunity with members of the committee to present your donation.
